NO VACANCY WINDOW GALLERY ART WALK RUNS 9/4 - 11/30
17 LOCAL ARTISTS + 17 EMPTY STOREFRONTS
The self-guided art tour through Portland’s Old Town-Chinatown neighborhood turns boarded-up buildings into vibrant art exhibition venues
Portland’s historic OId Town-Chinatown neighborhood will transform into a free open-air art gallery featuring 17 local artists and 17 vacant buildings. The No Vacancy Window Gallery creates a bold new model for culture-driven streetscapes, showing that art accessibility and economic development can help create lasting change in Portland. The art installations were curated and led by Lauren Lesueur, owner of elle Gallery and made possible through the Multnomah County Community Vitality and Economic Opportunity Grant program.
The self-guided No Vacancy Window Gallery art walk starts at the iconic White Stag Building and will take visitors through Old Town’s culturally rich streetscape. The window exhibits will feature everything from site-specific installations and ceramics to large canvasses, photography, and sculptures.
All the art installations can be viewed from the sidewalk, and the walking gallery will be available to view from September 4 through November 30. Visitors can pick up a map at elle Gallery, Saturday Market or download one here.
